Abstract: This work provides for the first time records of the genus Sarcofahrtiopsis Hall (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) in Argentina and Ecuador. A new species of the genus collected in the Humid Chaco ecoregion of Argentina is described, S. spinetta sp. nov. Also, we report new distributional records for S. cuneata (Townsend) from Argentina and Ecuador. A key including all the species of Sarcofahrtiopsis and comparative illustrations on the phallic structures to diagnose and separate the species are provided.
