Alimentación de Galaxias platei (Pisces, Galaxiidae) en siete ambientes lénticos de la provincia de Chubut, Argentina
Abstract
The trophic spectrum of specimens of Galaxias platei, collected in seven Andean lakes of Chubut province, was analysed by observing the digestive tracts of 151 fishes, collected during 2000-2002. The index of relative importance (I.R.I.) showed that the main food items for adult G. platei were amphipods, chironomid larvae, fishes, molluscs, hirudinids, insect larvae, and terrestrial insects. G. platei exhibited cannibalistic habits in three lakes. The species presents size variation in dietary composition. The data indicate that G. platei is a benthic carnivore.Downloads
